Act 7 - Moth EuroCup Thun

18 Boats from 4 nations found the way to the Bernese Oberland and its beautifull Thunsee. Dispite the wind-forecast, not looking good at all, but promising thermal conditions.
And the thermals delivered! 4 races were sailed on Friday, the first day, with a spectacular panorama of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in the background.
Max Mäge showed impressive speed potential and with 3 race wins he took the lead over our local sailor Matthias Renker.
Saturday:
As still easterlies were forecasted and that is not the best wind direction on this lake, we met only on midday and hoped again for the thermals of the afternoon to get us some races. This allowed some good rest and to enjoy the surroundings. Around 2pm the wind filled in and we had again two races, bit lighter but good foiling and fair races! Renker got the day and could overtake Max, by one singel point!
The wheater got clouded and this stopped the thermals so race nr 3 had to be cancelled after two laps, and a longer lowriding session back home followed. A beer waited ashore to rehydrate and get the smiles back on the faces.
The official dinner in the YachtClubThunersee followed in the evening, and was enjoyed by everyone.
Sunnday:
Same forecast, same call, first possible warning at 12, the young guns from Geneva pushed to go out early as the breeze started to build. As the race committee went out and measured 7kts on the racecourse, everything was on for the battle for the ranking, all was very close.
Two more races were sailed, and Matthias hadn’t his best day, scoring his discard. Max overtook again and won the event, one point separated him from Mathias, David Holenweg sailed very consisted and ranked third.
Voucher prizes for the Top3 and 3 Lottery prices were sponsored by KA sail / Andrew McDougal and Prices for the Top3 in the SUI Ranking by Compass24.ch
Thanks for coming and hope to see you all (and more) again next year!
