Nordea Moth Europeans Travemünde / GER

This years Moth euro was held during the Travemünde Week
The Practice Race of the Moth-Europeans was cancelled on Monday due to a too strong breeze. Five races were planned on Tuesday, day one of the Championship. 38 participants from 10 nations are on the starting list. Absent from the event were the past World Champion Simon Payne GBR and the ex European Champion Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI. Three races were sailed on day 2 in the afternoon moderate seabreeze, all taken by a stellar Christ Rashley GBR, and with this exploit, he is on a clear way to the title. On 2nd and 3rd are Peter Barton GBR und Josh McKnight AUS separated by one point only. 3 Swiss Sailors in the Top10, well done!
The light winds on day 3 barely allowed flying and the fleet is now clearly structured after the three Wednesday races, as the heavy pilots suffered some more setbacks. A class of his own is Chris Rashley GBR, who - with 7 wins in 8 races - is now already 36 points ahead. The suspense remains for Silver and Bronze, where Markus Steeg GER is at present on rank 2, for the first time a German in the top ranks. But there are 5 competitors in total within 9 points, all hoping for a medal in the two regatta days on the program, with Matthias Renker SUI 3rd on pole position only 2 points behind. The fleet tried in vain to successfully start another race, but the wind was too light to complete a heat. This means that the Gold Medal is practically certain for the outstanding Chris Rashley GBR. Next's races will be exciting however when it comes to the Silver and Bronze Medal: Ben Parton GBR (39 pts), Markus Steeg GER (43 pts) and Matthias Renker SUI (46 pts) are closely together. But there was nevertheless racing later in the evening, when the price-money Slalom 'Dash for Cash' on the Travemünde Canal, cancelled on Sunday due to too much wind, was resailed. The final was sailed with Philip Käsermann SUI, Matthias Renker SUI, Markus Steeg GER and Josh McKnigth AUS with Käsermann as winner touching the price money before Matthias Renker and Steeg. The report (f) of the Swiss Team.
Big breeze (4-5 bft) on the last day of the Moth Europeans! Chris Rashley GBR was brilliant also in these conditions (ranks 2 and 3) taking the well deserved European Champion title. Peter Barton GBR strongly coming from behind jumped on rank 2 with two bullets yesterday. Ben Parton GBR finally made the English podium complete with the Bronze medal, while the other candidates for the podium - Markus Steeg GER, Mike Cooke GBR and Matthias Renker SUI - remained without medals on the ranks 4 - 6. full ranking list.
